Description
In the 1978 Alabama democrat primary for Governor, there were 6 candidates. All except one were well known, four of which had been in Alabama politics for years and some had run for other state offices. F. C. Koster was a total newcomer to Alabama politics, and particularly State politics, yet he chose to run for the top office in the state. The democrat primary was the same as being elected to office in those days. Now, it has totally switched to republican. I don't believe there is a single democrat that has been elected to office statewide in more than 15 years. This poster is EXTREMELY rare, since the distribution of them was limitied, and most were posted throughout the state on utility poles or fence posts. Almost all were destroyed by weather over a short period of time, although some were left in mostly country stores for customers to pick up at the checkout counter. That's where I got mine!!! This poster is unique in that it has a picture of both the candidate, F. C. Koster, but also his wife. He was a Church of God preacher, hence the Bro. and Sis. (Brother and Sister) in front of their names on the poster. If you want one of these, I don't believe that you will see any for sale anywhere else. I haven't seen one offered in more than 40 years!!!! NOTE: These posters were printed on oversize paper (9" x 13") so copies can not be made. Unless it's this size, it is a FAKE!!! Any questions, let me know.
