They feature a portrait by William K Schrage, based on a photograph by Life magazine's Hank Walker. Senator George (1878-1957), a Democrat from Georgia, served in the US Senate for 34 years (1922 - 1957) - during five presidential administrations, from Calvin Coolidge to Dwight D. Eisenhower. Following his retirement from the Senate, George was appointed ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) by President Eisenhower, before his death on August 4, 1957.
