1930 ink blotter Re-elect 3 term U.S. Congressman FRANKLIN MENGES, Pennsylvania, Republican Free Shipping to U.S. Up for sale is..... a vintage Ink Blotter from the 1930 campaign of Congressman Franklin Menges Election to be held Nov. 4, 1930. Franklin Menges (1858 – 1956) was a three term Republican Congressman from Pennsylvania (1925 – 1930). He was defeated in the 1930 election. His alma mater was Gettysburg Collège where he was instructor in chemistry and physics from 1886 to 1896, and then head of the science department of York High School from 1897 to 1903. He represented the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition at the World's Fair in 1904. He was the author of numerous articles on scientific agriculture. In 1914, his book, Soils of Pennsylvania was published. He was engaged in agricultural pursuits on his farm near York, Pennsylvania, until his retirement in 1947. The blotter measures 3- 3/4 ” x 7- 1/2 ”.
